Electric service and re-sod
So the job here was straight forward enough, a long standing customer of Stryker Electric contacted Scott (thats Scott in the gray shirt holding up the garage) with a power problem. Something or the other was without power, that is not really my side of things, but it turns out the buried service line had been over-loaded and burned up. Because of a sizing issue, the existing wire could not be pulled from the conduit and a new service had to be buried. Thats where I came in. Straight forward enough, dig a trench, and then fill it in. The real work to this job (as with any) was the clean up.

And, twelve hours later, here was the clean up:

The soil conditions were poor to say the least so the clean up was painstakingly slow. I had to backfill six inches at a time and then run a plate compactor over the trench. It took several passes each time and about ten passes total. Then with a little preparation the removed sod could be replaced and it shouldn't sink below grade. It was actually left a couple inches high, even with the plate compactor nature will still settle it out some. A rain storm or two and they will never even know the lawn had been excavated. This isn't something that can be done everywhere, this location had a really good quality turf that was well maintained and suited for just such a job.
